Do We Take Ethics Seriously?
Do we take ethics seriously? People talk a good game, but certainly we've seen plenty of ethical lapses (or perhaps total disregard for ethics) recently in the US and elsewhere.
Bruce Weinstein writes in Business Week that:
"What we need is an Ethics Czar.
According to the annual USA Today/Gallup Poll, less than one American in four rates highly the ethical standards of business executives, attorneys, members of Congress, or stockbrokers. Bankers had it especially rough in the latest poll."
I'm not sure if I agree 100% or not, but I do find Bruce's article, We Need an Ethics Czar to Battle a Widespread Breakdown in Standards, very interesting and thought provoking!
His six point code of conduct for ethics czars is great, and his top nominee for Ethics Czar WILL surprise you!
