Interesting/amusing Seth Godin interview(s) by Hugh Macleod

OK, so any interview of Seth is interesting and amusing.

Hugh recently had a ten question interview with Seth that I found worth reading more than once. They discuss spreading ideas, blogging, books, and more.

I also uncovered this previous interview I had somehow missed or forgotten. Among other things, he says the word most commonly associated with him is: " is "bald" followed by "slightly annoying" (which is two words, but who's counting.)"

He's one of the more creative business minds out, and since we tend to agree with each other I like him even more. Seth also appears in my next book, What No One Ever Tells You About Blogging and Podcasting, due on the shelves in a few weeks.

think your activity as a sock puppet leaves much to be desired!

also would love to see you examine the vastly different generational responses to print

can we count on "negrokojak" taking a more NEOist stance?

There are (or at least seem to be) different generational responses to different media.

It seems everyone 15 and younger likes video much more than me for example. I'd love to see results of a formal study, but regardless, it makes sense to have your message in as many mediums as possibke to reach the largest audience, e.g. audio, video, print, blog, etc.

Interesting interview, thanks for posting it. I've been hearing about Seth Godin for a few years now, my old outfit Linkage Inc used to feature him as a keynote speaker at their conferences back around 2002. I really should read one of his books. Any suggestions, Ted? Which one did you find most compelling?

notice that you didnt respond directly to the point of my question but used it as a jumping off point to go off on a flight of fancy reGUARDing McCluhanistic interpretations about different generations and the way they respond to different forms of media

Hate to drag you down to my level
(that of a NEOist provacateur) but I'll repeat my queary in the VAIN hope you will address it dirctly?

To wit: As A business CONsultant & marketeer, what are your thOUGHTs on the way that different age groups respond to and interpret print? It seems that older people are much more inclined to have a LITeral relationSHIP with print sailing pASSt their critical faculties to a port of unquestioned acceptance of it as truth. ref.: because it is in "print" or i read it somewhere it must be true

JUNGer generations are much more casual in their respect for print in general and in in thinking it is inextractably intertwined with verity modules

I think this is IMPortant because most of the internet is still composed of and dictated by print

Who kNOwSE if Generation ZEDD will carry this to the next logical exTENSION with the growth of Photo Shopping to look at photos with the same critical suspicion that our young folks
look at print.

Is there an underLIEing motive for "negrokojak" going iCONless btw?

Jim,

I suggest "Permission Marketing," a classic.

Anonymous, the words "it is written" have no meaning except to older generations. For example, although skeptical, my parents are more likely to accept something written in a book or the main stream media. You and I are probably not.
Can't say I understand all your comments though!
